Giles Norman
Global Solutions Manager, Wireless and Mobile, IBM |
Giles joined IBM in 1982 as a Systems Engineer and has since worked across a wide range of industry sectors. For most of his time in the company, he has specialised in the design and implementation of network infrastructures and connectivity strategies for clients, focusing purely on wireless technologies since 2000.
Until recently, Giles led the Wireless Broadband Solutions area for a UK-based team of sales, consultants and specialists whose mission was to incubate and bring to market wireless services, solutions and offerings for IBM. In this role, Giles developed and marketed a range of "first of a kind" solutions using the latest technologies for mobilising businesses, including Enterprise and Public Wireless LANs and, more recently, the areas of Wireless Campus and Community Broadband.
He has recently moved to his current role of Global Solutions Manager with worldwide responsibility for developing Wireless and Mobile Solutions for IBM's Networking Services team.
Giles is based in IBM’s South Bank location in Central London, though, in the spirit of true mobile working, spends most of his time with clients or working away from the office.
